Internal Disputes Between Staff and Management

We were instructed by a prominent private school in London to ascertain the nature of complaints from suspected poor cleaning standards. It was also suspected the falling standards were because of an ongoing internal dispute. The premise of the instruction was to provide evidence of cleaning standards achieved and independently assess those observed standards against industry best practice.

The school had no written cleaning performance indicators, standards or even method statements (standard operating procedures), so in their absence, observed cleaning standards were measured against what was reasonable and practical at the time of the audit.

The results indicated that in some cleaning tasks the staff didn’t have the most effective equipment to use, and what they were using was found to be neglected. There were many similar findings that indicated areas of weaknesses in both staff and management. These similar points raised provided grounds that enabled the dispute to be resolved.
